international eat ice cream for breakfast

napkin holder_edited.jpg

We know a lot of shops celebrate Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast on February 3rd. However, we encourage you to celebrate with us on February 18th from 9 am - 2pm. During this time, 50% of our sales will benefit Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. These funds would go towards Haley Center for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children! Your donation helps to fund advanced technology and treatments that support local children battling cancer.

Some fun ways to celebrate with us on February 18th is to order something breakfast themed! A classic go-to is a Signature Coffee Milkshake. For a bigger breakfast, you can order a banana split with our homemade ice cream flavors: Coffee, Maple Bourbon Bacon, and Blueberry Pancake. There’s also no shame in a classic scoop of Cookie Monster or Ore-Dough!

Don’t worry if you can’t make it out that morning, because this whole month we will be collecting donations for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children! Ask your scooper at check out to make a donation and you can fill out your donation card for us to hang in our shops to show support.

We hope you will bring out the whole family to help us celebrate, remember and increase support for those who are currently fighting pediatric cancer. Every donation makes a difference. #support #remember #partyon

The creation of Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast:

Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day was created by Malia Grace’s mom and aunt in 2013 in honor of her memory after Malia Grace passed away from cancer in 2010. She loved ice cream and her family wanted to commemorate her birthday in a way that would be fitting for Malia Grace.

During her wish trip at Give Kids the World, Malia Grace had the opportunity to Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast and it was a highlight of her family's experience. February 18th has become an annual international childhood cancer awareness event. Each year the celebration has grown; increasing support for those fighting, celebrating the survivors and remembering the children we have lost.

traditions

It’s a tradition in the Seidl Family to have our kids wait until their first birthday to have their first scoop of ice cream! George turned One in September and we celebrated with Family and Friends with scoops from our Little Pink Truck at our home!

George was born last year in the middle of Hurricane Ian so it was only fitting for there to be rain on his birthday. One thing I’ve learned while living in Florida is that you can’t control the weather, so we made the best of it!

Having the ice cream truck come out for our childrens’ first birthdays is a fun tradition we began when we had Nora; watching their faces light up over that first bite brings us so much joy. Now, our older daughters know that the truck comes for all their birthdays so they run out screaming with excitement to greet the truck.

An ice cream social is such a fun way to bring people together to celebrate. It reminds me of my childhood when we would celebrate with ice cream at a birthday party or ball game.  When I was in grade school my mom would bring me ice cream cups - with the wooden spoons - to share with my class for my birthday; I have always loved ice cream more than cake!

back to school!

I can’t believe summer is over because it sure doesn’t feel like it! The first day of school is already here in Orange County so for this month’s Featured Flavors we wanted to bring back flavors that remind us of waking up for school and our favorite after school snacks.

Unicorn Tracks is loved by lots of little ones but I wanted to mix it up with some nostalgia with our version of the Cosmic Brownie.  I had a lot of fun creating this flavor and all of the elements. I started by buying a box of Little Debbies Cosmic Brownies and creating an ice cream base to replicate the chocolate brownie. The next step was adding brownies, a ribbon of fudge throughout, and then adding the rainbow candy morsels.  This isn’t just a copycat of the actual brownie; this is our version and special creation 🙂

We brought back Breakfast Buddies and Kit Kat for August, as well! Two fan favorites!  Breakfast Buddies is a labor of love for our production team. We start by steeping Cap'n Crunch & Corn Pops into our cream base and then layer in our homemade Fruity Pebble marshmallow treats.

Enjoy these back-to-school favorites and a wonderful start to the school year!

MAKIN' MEMORIES WITH MOM

IMG_5197.jpg

Check out Kelly and her girls, Veda + Nora, making ice cream sandwiches on our Instagram

One of the best ways to celebrate motherhood is to make memories with the Mom in your life. You can always give gifts, but if your mom’s love language is quality time, make sure to do something special with her. Don’t forget to also celebrate the grandmas, dog moms, wanting to be moms and every mom figure you have in your life!

One way Kelly loves to spend time with her family is making ice cream sandwiches. The girls get to be involved in helping, and are so excited for the treat at the end! Just cut the side of a pint of our homemade ice cream and put it in between your favorite cookies. We used cookies from Buttermilk Bakery since they are Kelly’s favorite, but you can always make your own to make it more personal. To make a colorful sandwich you can press sprinkles or M&M’s on the outside of your sandwich.

Don’t forget to take photos and document your memories with her; she will love to look back on all the fun. Ice cream brings families together and we're happy to share one way to make a special moment.

You can order ahead for pick up at any of our Scoop Shop Locations!

APRIL 7, 2023

407 Day

407 Day is April 7, when Orange County Government, The City of Orlando, and Visit Orlando celebrate our local restaurant scene. Everyone is encouraged to visit and share their favorite local Orlando restaurants. Kelly wanted to highlight some of her favorite restaurants on this fun day so follow along on our day trip! We hope everyone gets out to celebrate soon!

Our first stop for the day is Jeff’s Bagel Run. We went to the College Park location, where they bake fresh bagels daily. If you’re looking for a fresh New York Style bagel here in Orlando you must go here in the morning; they are known to sell out, especially on the weekends! Jeff's original location is located in Ocoee!

If you’re looking for a sweeter breakfast or just a fun treat, Kelly loves Buttermilk Bakery. In Winter Park on N. Orange Avenue, you can find the shop with an adorable back porch to enjoy their delicious pastries. The menu is seasonally inspired and changes weekly depending on the availability of produce. Some of Kelly’s favorites include their croissant and pop tart selections.

Swine and Sons is right down the street from Buttermilk Bakery inside the Winter Park Social House and serves up amazing dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Kelly typically enjoys their Cobb Salad but is also a fan of their sandwiches. Our Winter Park Social House Scoop Shop, located in the same plaza, serves Oatmeal Cream Pie Ice Cream, using the Swine and Sons recipe!

Our last stop was at Antonella’s Pizzeria in Winter Park. A favorite among Rollins and UCF students, and Winter Park residents alike, you can get just a slice or a whole pie. They are locally owned and make all their dough and sauces in-house.

We encourage you to have a meal or snack at any of these or another locally-owned restaurant in Orlando today. Be sure to tag your social media posts with #407day if you plan to post online! We'd love to see what you got!

Every month we create a fun menu of five seasonal flavors. However, we wanted to start highlighting Kelly’s personal favorite seasonal flavor for each month. This January, Kelly’s Fave Flavor is Alligator Tracks.

Alligator Tracks is an orange zest ice cream with dark chocolate shavings and toasted almonds layered throughout. This flavor was inspired by Florida’s winter citrus and the classic

has been a January seasonal flavor for six years now since that is when Florida oranges are at their peak season.

2022 Recap!

What's the Difference?
Oviedo3.jpg
Holiday Staff Party at Fun Stop

Staff Holiday Party at Fun Spot

2022 was such a fun year of growth for us here at Kelly’s!

We scooped at 42 different charity events within the Central Florida community, such as Appetite for the Arches, Nathaniel's Hope Celebration, and Cows n Cabs in 2022. We also hosted fun events for Central Florida neighborhoods at our Scoop Shops such as our flavor collaboration with The Lost Bros and our Back to School Bash.

Out of our original Scoop Shop location on Corrine Drive, our Production Team made 88,839 gallons of Ice Cream this past year. And, now, Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream is served at fourteen different Scoop Shops and Counters across Florida.

This past November we opened our sixth Scoop Shop at the Winter Park Social House on Orange Ave. We also added five new Counter locations between March and July, as far away as Ponte Vedra and St. Pete.

Our Production Team also created twelve new flavors in 2022, with the top three new favorite flavors being Breakfast Buddies, Dunkaroo, and Coquito. Our top three flavors from our Signature Menu for 2022 were Ore-Dough, Cookie Monster, and Cake Batter n’ Sprinkles.

We loved being able to continue to celebrate our growth with our communities and can’t wait to see what next year brings!

secret menu #1

Dirty Blonde

september 24, 2022

We know many cult classic brands have secret menus and once we realized we already had some
secret combinations of our own we wanted to join in on the fun!

Our “Secret Menu”  combines two of our Signature Flavors (available at most locations!) to create a
whole new flavor experience.  Our Teams are in on the secret so you can order these by name
even though you won’t find it listed in-store.

Don’t forget when you order from the Secret Menu
it will be a double scoop serving!

From Kelly:

“Dirty Blonde originated after we created our Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie and Blondie ice cream flavors.
It's the best of both worlds; milk and white chocolate with all the mix-ins; Oreos, peanut butter, brownies, Heath bar & more. I’ve always believed that two scoops of two different flavors are better than two of the same.
The name was coined when a customer ordered it as a double scoop at our Corrine Shop in 2015 when
we first opened. It's been one of my favorite flavor combinations since then!”
